Project Healthy Living is a non-profit whose purpose is to improve the health and quality of life in Southeast Michigan through the detection of asymptomatic diseases and health education. To do this, we go into the churches, malls, community centers, hospitals, clinics, and other locations in a variety of neighborhoods bringing free and low cost screenings that are often difficult to get elsewhere. We have struggled to keep our costs as low as possible and have not increased our charges in over five years. In light of the economic plight of our society, we felt that this was not a good year to increase our charges even though our costs to provide these services are increasing. Therefore, we are asking for your help.
If Project Healthy Living has been of value to you. If, like so many of us, these tests helped to divert a serious health problem or save the life of someone you
love, please consider donating to help us continue this life-saving mission. Non-profits are facing a real dilemna as the need for service increases and funding for services decreases. It may not seem like a lot to you, but every dollars helps. Five dollars can pay for an iron test for someone in need, $25 will provide a PSA (prostate specific anitgen) test for men or a CA-125 cancer antigen test for women that may find the early signs of cancer when it is most curable and least expensive to treat. Forty dollars will cover the cost of a 24-profile blood panel. Every dollar will help pay for gas for transportation to the sites, equipment repairs, printing cost for forms, medical supplies and even the light bill!
