Testimonials
There are thousands of stories about the impact of Project Healthy Living. Some are stories that describe ways that simple life style changes prevented the development of disease, others show how knowledge of your health is a power tool in improving health. Some of the stories tell how abnormal tests results indicated a more serious problem and still others are stories of lives saved that never even knew they were in jeopardy. Such is the story of Mr. Charles Brown who has become a strong advocate of screening and preventative health care.
Mr. Brown came to the Project Healthy Living/Cover the Uninsured site sponsored by Wayne County and the City of Detroit at Cobo Hall last year. His screening found a significantly abnormal reading indicating a problem that he didn't know he had -- he felt fine -- but he was in serious danger.
"I literally could have dropped dead the day before, and didn't even realize it," he recounted. "You know how people say, 'I saw him just yesterday and he looked fine'? I could have been one of those statistics."
